Is a Malamute what you really want ?
A well educated Malamute may get along well with other pets, even cats, and that is much easier to accomplish if they are raised together.
In some cases a Mal may get along with your cat but decide that your neighbor's
cat is something completely different, and that's because your cat (his
cat...) is considered as a member of the pack, while all the rest are just
cats, and they'll be happy to chase and kill them.
It's also not an unfrequent case that of the pet respected indoor (your territory),
but fiercely chased outdoor (his territory).
The best way to grant that your dog will get along well with other animals
is to keep him in contact with these other pets in the very first weeks of
life, so that he will receive some kind of a co-specific imprinting on the
other species beside man.
Malamutes often are not very friendly to oher dogs of same sex, that depends
on the breeder's criteria about temperament and on the education that the
dog receives, which is also very important.
Growling and posturing at other dogs should always
be firmly discouraged (in this case a sudden slap is adviced) and you must make so
that what time they spend with other dogs is a happy time (playing, tasty
snacks, etc.).

Malamutes can be trained to get along with other pets.
It is much easier when they are grown with other pets in the house.
