Welcome to the Bear-Pak Malamutes website

This is where we talk about our passion and our malamutes, about theyr shows and theyr work in harness which is so important to us, about our hopes, projects and everyday life with our wonderful companions.
All about our dogs (info, picture, pedigrees etc.) can be found in the Bear-Pak section of the website.

All contents of the website are readily and directly accessible thru the menu, which you will find in any page.
I also added an "Updates History" log box below (linked and clickable), to help you find new stuff more quickly.
We chose this color for links so whenever you see this light blue color you know you can click on it.
Some areas of the website are still under construction, but we're almost done.....

One last thing. If you like our dogs and our web site we would really appreciate it if you would sign our guestbook.

Enjoy !!

Exclusive !!
Interview to Ms. Brooks

After the end of the show we had the chance to interview Mrs. Brooks, about her impressions about the show, the dogs she judged, and her advices in order to improve.
This is a very interesting article, that you can't miss [more]

Breeding criteria, genetic diversity and common prejudices in the European breeding scenario.

Is it true that outbreeding helps preserving genetic diversity within a given breed ? Or is it just a fashion or "philosophical" approach to breeding ?
This article analyzes the result of a recent study which seems to indicate that linebreeding still makes a lot of sense and that "extreme" positions are pointless and useless to the preservation of genetic diversity [more]

Tonka Makes History
Snowlion's Soldier of Fortune "Tonka" makes history as the first red to ever win an AKC all breed BIS.
For the pleasure of all the fans of red malamutes, we summarize his career and that of all the top winning reds before him in the words of owner R. Remhart and of expert S. Richardson [more]

Bear-Pak Breaking News
May 22nd 2004 - Willow Finished!!
BOS, CACIB and New Italian Champion at Florence Internationals

Snowlion Skyrider O'Bear-Pak was finished may 22nd owner handled at Florence International Shows under norwegian judge Mr. Mjiaerun.
Willow finished in style with yet another Major win going Best Opposite Sex and CACIB over well known specials, earning points for the FCI International Championship which is her next goal.
The "Sky Rider" finished her championhip over a six months period collecting the six wins required in just seven shows (2 of them Specialties and three of them Internationals).
In this period she also went 2004 CIAM Champion, BOG and 3rd BIS in National Show.
We want to thank judges Mr. Naveda (E), Mr. Renau (E), Mr. Adinolfi (I), Mrs. Brooks (USA), Mr. Di Lorenzo (I) and Mr. Mjaerun (N) that appreciated her well evident functional attributes, type and movement allowing her to be finished so fast.
Special thanks go to Joanne Watkins and John Greenside for breeding such a bitch, a special in the ring and a special in everyday life which is even more important.

May 1st 2004
CAC, BOB, BOG and 3rd BIS at the Terni Nationals

While we were still recovering from the emotions of the previous weekend, we were thrilled by a new and unexpected result.
On Terni National Show of may 1st Willow not only defeated the rest of the malamutes going BOB but went on to defeat all the rest of the dogs entered that day (about 1.000) except one Boxer and one German Shepherd, winning the Group and placing 3rd in the Best In Show competition, under Swedish FCI Group 5 (nordic breeds) specialist Mr. Paul Stanton.
This result was unexpected as very seldom happens that a bitch goes on to place in the BIS contest. We are very proud of this result as it was obtained with a bitch not yet a champion and because Willow was owner handled that Sunday, which adds even more shine to the result.
We want to thank Mr. Di Lorenzo (breed Judge) and Mr. Stanton (group and BIS Judge) who recognized Willow's virtues and we hope this will be the first of many group and BIS placements.

April 25th 2004
National Specialty Best Of Winners under Mr. Barbara Brooks

80 malamutes from several european countries beside of course all Italy entered the ring of the CIAM 2004 National Specialty Judged by Mrs. Barbara Brooks in Cuveglio on April 25th.
Our Willow beside gaining the congratulations of Ms. Brooks won the very crowded female open class, went Best of Winners and earned her fourth CAC (the second in a specialty). Finishing her is now little more than a formality.
Furthermore Willow won again the CIAM Championship, the Junior version of the CIAM Club Championship she had already won last year.
Willow was defeated only by the mature lady Stormy Monday's Master Blaster Jamming owned by dear friend Gabriella Lovati of Grand Jorasses Kennel. Jamie also went BOB and BISS.
